Nation Youth Teen Anglers Association (NYTA) today was won by St. Elizabeth team with 14.9 pounds. Today was a pre tournament day for the teens. The High School and Middle schools fished this optional tournament. Today’s tournament format allowed for the teens boat captain, (team coach, parent, etc.) could also fish. Tomorrows tournament, requires an adult boat captain gut the boat captain cannot fish, only the teens can fish tomorrow.
Most anglers reported catching quality fish in the Glaize and from the mouth of the Glaize to the dam. The dominant baits were finesse jigs, jerk baits, crank baits (rock crawler and Wiggle Wart) small swim baits and spinner bait. Most fish caught working baits slowly on the bottom in natural colors, (Green Pumpkin, browns and black and blue), same colors for the crank bait. The spinner bait bites were on white/Chartreuse color with gold Colorado blade working it slow rolled on the bottom. This tournament does not allow the A-rig Most anglers reported a very slow bite today.
