Tournament Notes

There were 31 teams, many Lake of the Ozarks hammers took out of Alhonna Resort this morning at 7, in 2nd Annual Firefighters/First Responders tournament, planned and executed by EMT and successful tournament angler Josh Schnabble.

The bite has not changed much on LOZ this past week.  17-18 pounds has won tournaments the last couple of weeks with 5+-4+ pounders being big bass.  This has been the summary the past 2 weekends on LOZ with lots of the best sticks fishing.

Similar to tournaments last weekend, the bite continues to be a mix of shallow dock flipping, shallow shade in the backs of creeks with bait fish and deep fish on secondary points, main lake points and brush piles in 8′-12′ of water.

Dock flipping baits include jigs with small creature bait trailers, creature baits on a skipping/flipping head, brush hogs, worms, beavers and D-Bombs.  Most being rigged on Crock-o-Gator Gator Lock Jig Head or pegged 3/8 Oz tunksten weights.

Heavy jigs and shaky head worms are catching em deep in brush and on points.   Bait fish are mid way to the backs of creeks, and fish are being caught in the brush and dock shade in the areas of the creeks where the bait fish are located.

Moving baits like a Rattle Trap, Medium Diving crank baits, spinner baits are also produced quality bites around bait fish.

Top water bite seems to be coming on also, early with the buzz bait, spook and whopper plopper around shade of main lake and secondary points as well as in the backs of creeks with a lot of bait fish.

The winning team today caught their bag flipping docks and fishing deep with Omega jigs, including swim jig.
