Wow, Kayak fishing is really taking off. Today, MOYak the top club in Missouri had 66 boats on Lake of the Ozarks. The Kayak tournaments measure their fish in inches versus pounds. The winners sack was 85.75″ an average of 17.15″ each just over 3 pounds, so about 16#+. The winners reported catching their fish in the backs of creeks on the brush hog, top water baits and whacky worms toward the backs of creeks, side pockets and behind spawning pocket docks. The main lake and secondary points, while produced some keepers were not a reliable pattern Carolina Rig, whacky worm rigged baits and Zara Spook produced some nice keepers om back corners of docks and creature baits/worms behind docks and bottom baits and crank baits on secondary points leading to spawning pockets produced a lot of bites and keepers. Many patterns and baits were working lake wide, including the floating worm in spawning pockets and behind docks from dam to 4mm. Next MOYak tournament is On Table Rock May 30th. |
