After just a couple of years, the tournament has grown to 70 plus boats, which is amazing for a charity tournament that helps kids. One person in the boat has to be a painters or allied trades person other than that it is an open tournament. This tournament needs to be on your radar for the spring of 2022. I had the privledge of speaking at their kick off meeting which included hamburgers, brats, sides and beer. A very well done tournament. I talked to the winner, Ryan Jordan. Ryan reported catching their winning catch in Gravois and lower end of the lake. They fished secondary points around the dam area early in the morning before the sun came up with stick baits, catching fish from the bank out to 6′ of water. When the sun came up they ran to the Gravois and fished the clear water from the lower to mid Gravois, sticking with fishing clear water, they did not fish the dirty water further up the Gravois. In the Gravois they caught their keepers on the Alabama Rig on the last creek channel banks, deeper water banks out from the the backs of the creeks. Ryan said that they were fishing small white colored Kietech swim baits on the A-Rig with adding chartreuse color to the tails and to the belly of the middle swim bait on the rig. Day one they had 15.45 pounds with a 5 pound kicker but only 5 keepers all day. Day 2 they had 8 keepers in a short day, 7:00-Noon, most of which came early near the dam on the stick bait and in the last 1.5 hours, 3 nice keepers on the rig in the Gravois. Their biggest fish was a 3.55 on day two. Congratulations to Ryan and Caleb on the win. Most importantly congratulations to PATCH for a successful tournament that helps kids. A big thanks to all of the anglers and sponsors that support this tournament for such a great cause. Check out this tournament for next year, its well run, great cause, great camaraderie and the best bass tournament venue (Alhonna) at Lake of the Ozarks. |
