Tournament Notes
Michael Harlin said Austin and I were blind sided by the win today. We ran into this 6.79 kicker early and then gambled on a river run shortly after. We decided to pull the plug early and ran back down the lake with little time left and were able to cull up to 19.39. It’s amazing what can happen in such a short period of time.
We caught all our fish today on a megabass 110. Colors were French pearl and clown. The fish we weighed in came from the mid lake area. We targeted the first 1/3 of the creeks and looked for secondaries and channel banks that had sun and wind on them. We used livescope, but, mostly as a scouting tool to find shad that were pushed up on the banks. Most of our fish came in less than 5ft of water. We did catch a few out of brush but it wasn’t necessary. It seemed like most of the fish were moving to the bank.
We did make a run up the river from 10-1:30. Water was 53. We only caught a few small keepers but, I think that area is only a few warm days away from being lights out.
Thank you to the American Bass Trail for putting on a fantastic inaugural event. We took home $4,400 in a $200 entry fee event. 100% payback goes a long way!
Every fish we weighed in today was caught on a Megabass of America Vision 110 thrown on an FX Custom Rods 6’6 Medium. If you haven’t yet, give them a look. It is the ultimate stick bait rod.
