Fishing Notes |
---|
After being off the lake for two days, it was fun to get back on the water this morning. I fished today from 7:30AM – 10:00AM. I started fishing docks that are shallow in the very backs of coves, flipping a jig and brush pile under the docks and swimming a Crock-o-Gator Jig along side the docks with a few pumping motions while swimming the jig. I caught a couple of short fish swimming the jig and then caught a 5.8 pounder that was under a swim dock. There was good wind today. This fish came off a dock that had wind hitting directly on the dock. While the dock was shallow, it also sat on a secondary point in the back of a cove. After catching some fish on docks, I fished some creek bank brush piles in 12′-15′ of water and caught 2 small keepers on the brush hog. Ameren has been slowly pulling water through the dam, which is slowly lowering the lake, which should get the brush pile bite going pretty good. Jack Uxa of Jacks Guide Service, reported catching a 4 pounder this morning on a Zara Spook like walking wait in shallow water. He and his client also caught fish around docks with wind on a stick worm like a senco and a fluke. |
