Fishing Notes

After having a great day fishing yesterday catching nearly 20 pounds of quality LOZ bass, today the fish turned off. Today Ben and I fished in the first tournament of the Anglers in Action 2013/2104 Ozark Team Trail. After catching a small keeper, 2.42 pounds on the buzz bait and losing a quality fish at the boat on a jig early, the rest of the day went without a single bass bite, not even any small bass, we got very excited when Ben hooked up with what we thought was a big bass, but it was a drum. We through the tackle box at em today, after not getting bit on the buzz bait and spinner, we slowed down and fished with a jig, no takers but that drum, we threw a jerk bait, A-Rig and a crank bait, but we could not get bit. We worked several spots that I had located last week that produced quality bites and had those big gizzard shad on the banks, but today the “banks” were closed!!! The 60 plus boat tournament field felt the same pain of the cold and slow bite. There were 3 limits weighed in, a 23 pound bag and (2) 19 pound bags, but most of the field were either skunked with no keepers of had 1-3 bass. Fishing can be quite humbling. Hopefully tomorrow the bite will turn back on. Stay tuned, today something changed with the fish for sure.
