Fishing Notes

Today was an awesome day, after yesterdays fishing SNAFU of my motor not working after running 50 miles and catching a bunch of big ones in a tournament without being able to weigh them in, I got news this morning from the best Mercury Mechanic on the lake, Dan Bowman, that my motor was back up and running. As many of you know, a blown head or lower unit is the worst that can happen, that was what I thought the news would be, but instead, the news was that a bolt came loose on my compressor which cause a shift in the compressor which then sheared off 2 of the remaining 3 bolts. Dan got it all back together and by 10 this morning my boat was back and operational. So, I got on the water about 3:30 and fished to about 6ish. I ran up the Glaize to find warm water, fished some good banks and got some bites. I have heard that there is a very good bite on the Crock-o-Gator Swamp Bug, so I committed to it and caught fish. I also know that the Chompers Finesse Jig in the Davenport Special color catches the fish very good on sunny days, and that jig caught me some fish too today. While I did not catch a bunch of big ones today, I am happy my boat is up and running and to get some bites on two very special baits for Lake of the Ozarks.
