Fishing Notes

Today I got on the water about 1:30 and fished until the thunderstorms moved me off the water about 5:00. I was targeting and checking out the backs of coves again in the lower Glaize area. The water was pretty stained in some of the areas that I fished, my first keeper came on the wiggle wart, my boat was sitting in about 15′ of water and casting to a bank with mixed pea gravel and chunk rock, the bite came well off the bank. My next keeper came at the very back of a big creek area, I saw a feeding frenzy in what must have been 6″ of water, I moved my boat until my trolling motor was kicking up mud, I fan casted the Crock-o-Gator Head Knocker Buzz Bait and had 3 bites in about 15 minutes including a keeper. I moved to another cove/creek that has a lot of brush piles and caught a keeper on the point leading into a spawning pocket on the stick bait, working it rather fast, that fish came very close to the bank. While I did not catch any pigs today, I was encouraged by the bite toward the backs of coves and encouraged by the buzz bait bite. Hopefully the backs of the coves/creeks will stay warm and not too muddy for the tournaments this weekend.
